Feline Friday: cat flashback

| Talk to me
Do Baby was the sweetest kitten I have ever known. She never once scratched me. Kittens are notoriously insane. Babette was so crazy she would attack ours faces while we were sleeping.

Do still, to this day, has never once hit at me. Nipped my toes while rubbing on me, yes, but I think that was excitement. When she was a kitten we could carry her around like a baby. Part of the reason her name morphed from Whisper to Do Baby.

What will little babies do?

They trust their mamas.

This is a darling cat. She still calmly allows me to cut her nails.

Feline Friday: cat and kids

| Talk to me
When I teach preschool, one of the other moms--who also happens to be my neighbor--takes Sage. When she teaches, I try to do the same. Her daughter is turning two this month. Sometimes she will hug her mother goodbye and walk home with Sage and I. Sometimes she will refuse to leave and will stay for preschool while her mother teaches. When she first came over here she was terrified of the cats. Brody, who is quite friendly, would send her screaming and crying into my arms. I'd have to put him outside or shoo him away before she would calm down.

And now, she happily announces "Cats!" when she comes in and will even pet Brody.

Of course, our resident animal lover will go right up to him and gently grab his tail so he can tow her around the room.

I'm so glad we found out homeless B-cat nearly eight years ago this spring. Every kid needs an arrogant orange feline around.

Feline Friday: kitty sneak and peek

| Talk to me
Jason took these photos. I was completely unaware that Do Baby was so close to me. Not surprising. Do Baby will brave whole crowds of people to get near me when she hears me reading out loud. It draws her out from hiding every-single-time.

Do Baby is getting ready to jump over the high *gate that blocks the master bedroom off from the rest of the house.

*This gate kept Brody and Mao out of the room when the baby was little and also gives Babette a place to herself (Do Baby won't challenge her for sleeping spots like Brody will). This allows Babette a place to de-stress. Babette can squirm between the bars. Do Baby is the only cat that can leap it totally. Mao is much too fat to get in and Brody, much too lazy. Brody will visit in the morning when the gate is down though and pop right into our bed.

She's so sneaky!

Feline Friday: kitty cat

Sage loves to say "kitty cat" and run towards the nearest cat to pet them. The cats often humor her. Though, the other day she said, "cat puke" and pointed to Brody's face. He forgave her. Or so I assume when he laid peacefully and purred on her bed (his new favorite nap spot) while she jumped wildly beside him.

Feline Friday: yoga ribbon

| Talk to me
Yoga would be easier to do at home, if a couple cats of mine weren't blood-thirsty yoga strap hunters....

Feline Friday: space savers

A truce, of sorts, for these two mortal enemies.

Feline Friday: cuddle puss

| Talk to me
100_6681.JPG
This cat always comes to me each night for some cuddles. I feel special since I am the only human she does this for.

She's a sweet girl kitty.

I'll miss her while we're away in Georgia for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Posting will resume on Monday, November 28th.

Happy Turkey-Day everyone.

Feline Friday: Fatty McKatty

Most of the cats hang out the entire day in the guest room napping. Why? The children tend to stay out of there.

In the following video you can watch our fat cat in action. It's amazing that she can even move!

Feline Friday: how about them goats?

| Talk to me
Yes, goats aren't cats, but I've always wanted a few as pets. One day when we own a home, I'd love to keep chickens and goats. Chickens, of course, give us eggs but also--who can be sad when looking at a dumb-dumb chicken happily pecking in the dirt? The same goes for a goat. So round bellied and confident in themselves. So lazy looking.

This was the prettiest looking goat at the zoo. Probably because she loves being brushed. She even licked me a bit in thanks for my good deeds.

And what about this fat little fellow?

May he keep you company while I am away. I have an entire house to clean, packing and a preschool field trip. At week's end the family and I are off traveling. Posting will resume on Wednesday.

Feline Friday: home alone

| Talk to me
The children and I will be away next week. That means long (peaceful) days without humans for the feline family members. I wonder if they enjoy the break from the children and I or miss us terribly.

Maybe it depends on the cat.

Posting will resume August 30 (when my baby will be officially one year old and a day!).
